One thing that all successful online shops have in common is verified reviews on their product pages. These are a type of social proof that helps potential customers click on that “Buy It Now” button.

However, this is not a built-in feature for Prestashop. But don’t worry, with the help of a module, you can easily add them. Today, I will demonstrate how to use the Verified Reviews plugin to display reviews for your products in PrestaShop.

Why Add Verified Reviews to Your Shop?

Product reviews have been around for a long time and have a proven track record when it comes to helping online sales. However, in more recent years, they have become somewhat of a necessity.  Nearly 80% of shoppers trust online reviews just as much as a personal recommendation.

And 86% of shoppers will look up a review before going to a business.

It seems everywhere you go, you can find reviews for something. Google encourages you to allow reviews on your business page, Yelp is a monster review site for everyone, and even Facebook allows reviews for its business pages.

Basically, if you want to be relevant and give potential customers and/or clients a good idea of what others think of your service, then allowing people to add reviews somewhere is definitely a good idea.

One fear beginners have of displaying reviews when starting out is that if they are bad, it will scare customers away. And while there is truth to this, not displaying them is far more detrimental and doesn’t change anything.

For example, there are a large number of product review sites on the internet. Just because you do not display a review, doesn’t mean a review doesn’t already exist. Visitors will find it and it will influence their purchase. Hiding it will not work in 2020.

More realistically, a visitor will just leave your website if there are no reviews. Let’s take a look at the Verified Reviews module for PrestaShop and take a look at everything it offers.

The Verified Reviews Module

The Verified Reviews module creates a simple way to add product reviews on your product pages. This is actually a pre-installed module in some versions of Prestashop (1.5 and 1.6). Thus, depending on the version of your PrestaShop install, it may already be available, but just not activated. It has a simple user interface, which makes it the perfect choice.

As we discussed above, reviews are an important aspect of running a business, and the Verified Reviews module gives you the ability to easily collect reviews from your customers. If managed correctly, this will lead to a jump in sales and also a bump in online presence.

This particular PrestaShop module also has a partnership with Google that will allow you to gain AdWord stars while you use the product on your website. The module offers a ton of upsides for your site if used correctly. Some of the benefits of using this include:

  • A Solution for Reviews Tailored to You
  • Collect Product Reviews
  • The Ability to Collect Website Reviews
  • The Best Feedback Rate on the Market
  • Facebook Applications –  Certificate of Authenticity
  • Stars in AdWords based on Google Partnership

Let’s take a look at how to get this PrestaShop review module installed and running on your website.

Download Verified Reviews

In order to start taking PrestaShop product reviews on your website from customers and clients, you first need to get the module installed and activated on your website. Let’s perform the steps together.

Click on Modules and Services and select the Modules & Themes Catalog option.

Modules & Themes Catalog

Search for Verified Reviews in the available search box.

Verified Reviews

Click on the magnifying glass and a new tab will open on your browser with the search results. Locate and click on the Verified Reviews module.

Verified Reviews

Click on the “Download” button.

Download

Note: If you are not currently logged into your Prestashop Addons account, you will be prompted to do so. If you do not have one, you will need to create an account before proceeding. It is fast and easy to create an account, and it is free. You will need it for running your PrestaShop setup in the future.

Select which version of the module to install. Make sure it matches your version of Prestashop.

Note: If you do end up picking a version of the plugin that is too far ahead of your current version of Prestashop, you could run into a fatal error when uploading it. This is because the plugin will utilize different lines of code not found in your version. To resolve this, you would need to remove the file from the Modules folder through your cPanel.

Module Version

Once you select your version of PrestaShop, a Zip file will automatically be downloaded to your machine. Grab that download and put it wherever you can easily access it.

Return to your Prestashop website. Click on Modules and Services and select the Modules and Services option.

Modules and Services

On the top right of the page, click on the Add a new module option.

Add New Module

An “Add A New Module” section will appear on the page. Click on the “Choose a file” button and select the zip file you downloaded in the previous step.

Click on the “Upload this module” button.

Upload This Module

You should see a green message that states that “The module was successfully downloaded” and it is now ready for use.

Activate the Module

Now that the Verified Reviews module has been installed, you need to actually activate it. Scroll down a little to your “Modules List.” You will see all your modules in this list. You can search your uploaded modules using a combination of four different filters. They include:

  • Installed
  • Not Installed
  • Enabled
  • Not Enabled

More than likely, you can just scroll to find your module. However, if you do have dozens of modules working in different aspects, then this search method will definitely help.

Find the module you recently uploaded in the list and click on the green “Install” button, to get it installed on your website.

INstall verified reviews module

Now the module is successfully installed, you get a green “Success” message. Below that is the main page of Verified Reviews welcoming you.

Main page welcome message

Now, let’s get the module configured together so you can start taking verified reviews and boost your sales and online presence.

Configure PrestaShop Verified Reviews

Now that you have the module installed, let’s go about the process of configuring it for use. Configuration of this particular module is not difficult. Remember, this is actually a “verified reviews badge” that will go on your website. It collects verified reviews from outside sources and houses them all in one place for your customers to see.

Review collection is automatic. When you set the module up, you are good to go. Simply display the reviews widget wherever you want on your website and customers can click on it to see PrestaShop reviews.

You basically need to perform three simple steps to get the PrestaShop Verified Reviews module running properly.

  1. Register with Verified Reviews so you can start pulling review data.
  2. Set up the export orders section to collect verified reviews from people who have already bought from your store.
  3.  Set up your widget layout, colors, options, and design.

Register With Verified Reviews

Scroll down some to the registration box and click on the appropriate link to get your secret key and ID website information. Follow the instructions, and then copy and paste the info needed into the relevant fields.

Secret Key

Export Orders

In this section, you can export your orders to customers that have already purchased and ask them for reviews. This is great to have running and enables you to start getting reviews quicker from people who have already bought from you.

Go ahead and set this section up how you see fit.

Export orders if needed

Design Your Widget

Finally, design the widget the way you see fit. You can change colors and other layout actions. Try to brand it to naturally look like it is a part of your store.

Design the verified reviews widget

Final Touches

There are two more sections to look at if you keep scrolling down. You can enable Google Rich Snippets and set those up if you want.

Google rich snippets

And then you can take a look at the Advanced Settings” section and see if there is anything in there you want to change or modify.

Advanced actions

That’s it! Be sure to click on the “Save” button to make sure all your configurations remain intact. You have successfully downloaded, installed, and set up the Verified Reviews module to use on your store site.

Final Thoughts

The importance of an online presence for any business cannot be overstated. This becomes increasingly apparent in the online world we live in. Aside from a social media marketing plan and content management, getting verified reviews from trusted online sources is a fantastic way to build trust, loyalty, and a solid online presence.

Have you tried using reviews on your website before? What other tools have you found successful for displaying verified reviews?

Do you want to add PayPal to Prestashop? PayPal is hands down the most popular payment method on the internet. It dominates the competition with a whopping 43% market share, which means most online shoppers have a PayPal account.

Thus, your Prestashop store is at a severe disadvantage if you do not support this payment method. Luckily, you can easily add it to your store with a module. And it is completely free to do.

Today, I will demonstrate how to use the PayPal Official module to add PayPal as a payment method.

Why Is PayPal So Important

PayPal is easily the most used online payment method in the world and the main reason for this is that it is trustworthy. When you shop with PayPal, you know that PayPal has your back. Thus, it has become the default option for most online shoppers.

In fact, according to PayPal themselves, customers are 54% more likely to make a purchase if PayPal is accepted. And a whopping 59% of customers decide to abandon a purchase when they do not see PayPal.

This is all thanks to PayPal’s strong security, reliability, and refund policy. When a customer makes a purchase using PayPal, there is no way they can get scammed out of their money. As a result, your website looks more trustworthy if you accept PayPal.

The PayPal Official Module

The PayPal Official module is a simple way to add PayPal to your website. As the name implies, this is the official Prestashop PayPal module, which means you can trust it will work and receive updates regularly. And the best part about it is that it is completely free to use. This makes it the best way to add a Prestashop checkout built with PayPal.

Let’s begin with the installation process.

Installation

Click on Modules and Services and select the Modules & Themes Catalog option.

Modules

Search for PayPal Official in the available search box.

PayPal Official

Click on the magnifying glass and a new tab will open on your browser with the search results. Locate and click on the PayPal Official module.

PayPal Official

Click on the “Download” button.

Download

Note: If you are not currently logged into your Prestashop Addons account, you will be prompted to do so. If you do not have one, you will need to create one.

Select which version of the module to install. Make sure it matches your version of Prestashop.

Note: If you pick a version of the plugin that is too far ahead of your current version of Prestashop, you could run into a fatal error when uploading it. If this happens, you would need to remove the file from the Modules folder through your cPanel.

Select Version

A zip file will now be in your downloads folder.

Return to your Prestashop website. Click on Modules and Services and select the Modules and Services option.

Modules and Services

On the top right of the page, click on the Add a new module option.

Add a new module

An Add A New Module section will appear on the page. Click on the “Choose a file” button and select the zip file you downloaded in the previous step. Click on the “Upload this module” button.

Upload this Module

You should see a green message that states that “The module was successfully downloaded” and it is now ready for use.

Using the PayPal Official Module

Now that the module has been added, we can use it to create a  Prestashop checkout with PayPal as an option.

To begin, click on Modules and Services and select the Payment option.

Payments

In the Recommended Payment Gateways section, you will see all of the payment methods you can add to your shop. As a result of adding the PayPal Official module to Prestashop, you will now see a PayPal option.

Click on the “Install” button next to PayPal.

Note: You can use the drop-down arrow next to this button to delete it as a payment method as well. This will remove the module from your website.

Install

The Module will again be installed and you will be prompted to begin setting up your PayPal options. Luckily, this only takes a few minutes.

Setting Up PayPal

The first option is to select whether you have a PayPal Business account. Simply select Yes or No. If you do not have one, you will have to make one as part of the setup.

Yes or No

The first step is to select your solution, which just means selecting if you want PayPal to process all of your card payments or if you just want to add PayPal in addition to your current card processor.  Select the choice that you want to use.

Payment Solution

Step 2 will be grayed out if you already have a PayPal business account (if you selected Yes at the beginning). Otherwise, you will need to click on the “Sign Up” button and enter all of the necessary information on PayPal.

Note: I encountered a visual bug on this step. Instead of the steps name appearing in English, it appeared in French. However, all of the other information appeared in English and was able to be entered correctly.

Step 3 is a simple test to make sure the security protocol is up to date. Click on the “Test” button to make sure that the TLS and CURLS are working correctly.

Test

Step 4 is where you add all of the necessary information from PayPal into the module. This step will be grayed out if you selected No at the start and did not set up an account in Step 2. Click on the “Get My PayPal Identification Info” button and fill in the necessary information in this section.

Get My PayPal Identification Info

Once the information has been entered, check again to make sure it is correct. You should receive a verification email, and make sure that a bank account is connected to your PayPal.

Finally, go through the last couple of settings and click on the “Save” button to finish the setup process.

Save

Congratulations on adding PayPal to Prestashop as a payment method. You will be able to accept payments immediately after the setup is complete.

Other Payment  Options Do Exist

While I personally only use PayPal when I shop online, there are some that choose other payment methods. You should consider adding other payment options to your website on top of PayPal. This will ensure that a customer will always have a preferred method to pay when they get to checkout.

There is nothing worse than losing a customer when they are one click away, so don’t let the lack of a payment option become that factor.

Reliability Is Key

Without a doubt, when you run an eCommerce website, reliability and trust play a big part in success, and using PayPal will help your website in both of these areas. When a customer makes a purchase using PayPal, they know they can receive a refund and PayPal will enforce it.

And, the company is just as vigilant when it comes to protecting sellers.

This is really reassuring and a very large part of why PayPal has become so dominant as a payment method. Thus, if you are not using PayPal, you are only going to hurt your own sales, so make sure that doesn’t happen.

Do you think PayPal should be a built-in payment method in Prestashop? What other payment methods do you plan to accept in addition to PayPal?

Do you want to add Google Analytics to PrestaShop? Google Analytics is a powerful analytical tool that provides detailed information about the traffic your website receives. It is the perfect tool to see if your website is reaching the right audience.

And of course, as one of the most popular analytical tools available, you better believe there is a module you can add to PrestaShop.

Today, I will demonstrate how to add Google Analytics to PrestaShop with the Google Analytics Module.

Why Add Google Analytics to PrestaShop?

Analytical tools are extremely useful when trying to grow your online presence. Knowing exactly where your traffic is coming from, how it behaves, and how conversions are happening is extremely helpful.

Without understanding why you are growing, you can not properly expand. For example, just because you stepped up your efforts on Twitter, doesn’t actually mean that is the reason why you are growing.

Google Analytics can show you exactly how many referrals your website is getting from Twitter or any other social media website for that matter. This allows you to appropriately spend your advertising budget on the platform that is benefitting you the most.

Google also allows you to connect your Adwords campaigns to see if your ads are providing a good return-on-investment.

And as an online shop, you want to ensure you are drawing in as many customers as possible.

Installing Google Analytics

The Google Analytics Module is a great addition to any online store using PrestaShop. In fact, it should be one of the first modules you install on the platform.

Click on Modules and Services and select the Modules and Services option.

Modules and Services

Search for Google Analytics in the available search box.

Google Analytics

Locate the Google Analytics Module in the results and click on the “Install” button.

Install Button

Upon installation, you will be asked to select the version you want to use. I always recommend using the latest version, so in this case, that would be version 3.0.

Latest Version

Click on the “Save & Configure” button.

Save and Configure

Configuring Google Analytics

Upon doing so, you will need to enter some information for Google Analytics. If you already have the necessary information, enter it now. However, if not, you will need to obtain it.

Luckily the Module comes with a full tutorial that shows every step of the process. To see it, click on the “How to configure Google Analytics API” button.

Configure-Google-Analytics

This will show you a step-by-step tutorial to obtain the necessary information for the API key.

Once you have the information and key ready, enter it into the appropriate text boxes and click on the “Save and Authenticate” button.

Save and Authenticate

You will now need to pick a Google account and grant it access to view the Analytics data for your website.

Once done, all that’s actually left is to visit your Google Analytics account page. You should now be able to track your website’s traffic in real-time.

Congratulations on successfully adding your PrestaShop website to Google Analytics.

Only the Beginning

This module simply allows Google Analytics to track your website’s traffic. It will not display that information on the dashboard. Instead, you will need to access your Google Analytics account.

Once here, you should begin reading through all of the information available. Understanding what every stat means is essential. Otherwise, you are just looking at numbers and that won’t help you in the slightest.

And there is a lot to go over in Google. Using this data, though, will vastly impact the success of your online store.

What are some of the most important stats that you track in Google Analytics? What other analytics tools do you use in for PrestaShop?

Sometimes a manual install of PrestaShop is ideal depending on the situation. It’s not as difficult as some of the other systems you can use, and it’s a relatively straightforward system.

This means you don’t need a tech dictionary to understand the jargon. The developers made it so that even the most novice developers can build an online store quickly with Prestashop hosting.

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install PrestaShop manually. It’s a bit longer of a process than using Softaculous, but you should still be able to get started selling right away.

Downloading PrestaShop

The first thing you’ll need to do is download PrestaShop. From the website, click the “Start Now” button under the version information.

Start Now

Fill out your information and click, “Download Now.” Your computer will probably prompt you to save the ZIP file, or it will do so on its own, depending on your browser settings. I try to save things like this to the desktop as it makes it easier to find when I need them.

After downloading, unpack the ZIP file into a folder on your computer. Again, this is much easier if you unpack it into a desktop folder. For this instance, I am simply going to name a new folder “PrestaShop” and extract the ZIP files into it.

Unpack ZIP

You will see you have another ZIP file of PrestaShop along with an Index and an Install_PrestaShop file. Don’t extract this second ZIP file. We are going to leave it for now and unpack it later in cPanel‘s File Manager.

Uploading PrestaShop

With the files ready, now we’re going to upload them to your web host. From cPanel, click the “File Manager” tool.

File Manager

Access your domain by going into the “public_html” directory.

Public HTML

The only thing that should be in this directory is the “cgi-bin” folder. If anything else is present, you need to delete it. This directory should be empty.

Click the “Upload” function from the top toolbar.

Upload

Upload the files you extracted earlier from the PrestaShop ZIP. You can drag and drop them onto the page or click the “Select File” button to add the PrestaShop files.

Select File

Once the files are uploaded, click the link to “Go Back to” your website.

Go Back To

Select the “prestashop.zip” file and click, “Extract.”

Extract

Make sure the folder is correct and click, “Extract File(s).” The default folder should be aimed at your website’s directory already, so you shouldn’t have to change anything.

Extract Files

This process may take a few minutes to complete. When it does, you’ll see a results screen. Click the “Close” button on the bottom right.

Close

You’ll have to reload your browser’s view to see your files.

Using FTP

If you don’t want to upload the ZIP file, you can always use FTP programs like FileZilla. These applications connect your site to the computer. From there, you can drag and drop files from your computer directly into the website.

Using FTP as opposed to the File Manager method takes quite a bit longer, but it gives you a tool that is excellent when it comes to troubleshooting problems later. However, it may require a bit of advanced site coding to truly get the most out of it.

Setting Up the Database

One last step we need to do before actually installing PrestaShop is to set up the database. Don’t worry; this is pretty quick and easy.

From cPanel, click the MySQL Database Wizard. This is by far the fastest method for setting up a database for any content management system like PrestaShop.

MySQL Wizard

Input a new name for your database. For this tutorial, I’m just going to keep it simple and use “prestashop01.” However, you can name this virtually anything you want. You’ll want to write this database name down as you will need it when setting up PrestaShop.

Once you have a name, click the “Next Step” button.

Next Step

Create a username and set up a password. This is also going to be used by PrestaShop to connect to the database. Make it unique and hard to crack. Don’t forget to write them down as well.

Click the “Create User” button when you’re ready.

Create User

In the next screen, click the checkbox for “All Privileges.” You want to make sure that PrestaShop has complete control over the database. Otherwise, you may have problems trying to operate the site correctly.

All Privileges

Scroll down and click the “Next Step” button.

Next Step Button

Now, you can click the “Return Home” link.

Return Home

Installing PrestaShop

Visit your website by going to your domain URL from a web browser.

Choose your preferred language and click, “Next.”

Language Next

Click the terms and conditions checkbox and click, “Next.”

Terms Next

PrestaShop will then check for compatibility. Click the “Next” button after it has been verified.

Verify Next

Input your shop’s information and your administrator account details. This username and password are not for the database. It’s for when you access PrestaShop as the administrator.

When you’re done, click the “Next” button to continue.

Next Continue

Input your database information and click, “Next.”

Database Next

PrestaShop will now begin to install all of its software components.

PrestaShop Install

After the installation, type your domain and add “/admin” in a web browser. So, the address would look something like, “https://www.ggexample.com/admin.”

You’ll see an error screen immediately. This is PrestaShop telling you to delete the install files from your site’s directory. This is to prevent anyone from vandalizing your site.

PrestaShop Error

This screen will also show you the link to access your PrestaShop admin screen from now on. Leave this browser window open for a moment and go back to your File Manager in cPanel.

Find and select the install file and click, “Delete.” It will be the file, “Install_PrestaShop.html.”

Delete Install

Find and select the install folder and click, “Delete.”

Delete Install Folder

Go back to the PrestaShop error screen. Click the link for the admin URL.

Admin URL Click

Now, you’re ready to log in and start selling.

Log In PrestaShop

Once you’re in the admin screen, you can start doing things like changing your theme or adding products to sell.

I would suggest bookmarking this screen so you can easily find it later on.

Start Selling Goods Today

The PrestaShop installation is only part of the eCommerce experience. After it’s complete, the fun part begins. Customize your store with everything from various shipping platforms to your favorite payment gateways. Before long, you’ll be raking in the money. As long as you have some good marketing behind you.

A Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, encrypts the data from your site to your visitors. It’s perhaps one of the most common forms of defense to protect users from hackers trying to steal information. It’s one security feature you need to seriously consider using.

It also plays a role in appearing higher in search results. This is because sites like Google value protected content.

At any rate, installing an SSL should be of high priority as it makes users feel more comfortable when shopping online.

Today, I’m going to show you how to set up SSL certificates in PrestaShop. This means you will need to buy the SSL certificate for your hosting account.

Enabling SSL

The process for setting up SSL is pretty straightforward and easy. All it takes is a quick click of the mouse and you’re good to go. Once your SSL is set up for the domain from your hosting account, PrestaShop will do the rest.

From the PrestaShop dashboard, click the “Preferences” section from the left column.

Preferences

In the General screen, the first option you see will be for SSL. If you don’t have an SSL certificate connected to your site, enabling it will not be helpful. You can click the link available to check if your site supports HTTPS.

If you’re sure you have the SSL certificate ready, click the “Yes” option for Enable SSL on all pages.

Enable SSL

That’s all there is to it. PrestaShop will then use the certificate to protect your users online.

Keeping It All Safe

There is no such thing as having too much security and safety when it comes to operating an online store. The SSL is just one component that keeps information private while improving the brand’s reputation as well as SEO. Because of the many benefits, it’s worth the yearly nominal fee.

Memcached is a system that improves performance by speeding up how database websites deliver information. It works by caching various bits of data and reduces how often the site has to make calls to external sources. In other words, it makes platforms like PrestaShop work much better over the long-term.

PrestaShop working with Memcached servers makes the speed of the site better for both users and search engines. After all, systems like Google hold fast websites in higher regard meaning they will perform better in search results. It’s all part of good SEO.

Today, I’m going to show you how to configure PrestaShop to work with memcached. You’ll need to know your server’s information in order to set this up correctly.

Enabling Memcached

PrestaShop already comes with Memcached installed in the system. However, it is disabled by default simply because it needs information regarding the server before it is of any use.

Go to the Advanced Parameters and click, “Performance.”

Performance

Scroll down to the very bottom of the Performance page. Click “Yes” for the Use Cache option.

Use Cache

New options will become available in the Caching section.

Click the radio button next to “PHP::Memcached” option. Careful, there is two of them available. One is for Memcache, and the other is for Memcached. Take not of the “d” at the end of the name.

Radio Button

Click the “+ Add Server” button.

Add Server

Input the information and click “Add Server.”

Add Server Info

It is important to note that you need the PECL extension installed for PHP before you can use Memcached. If you’re not sure if your hosting supports this feature, you should contact customer support. It’s worth the effort in performance if you can enable it on PrestaShop.

Increasing Performance

Memcached is jut one way you can enhance the performance of your site. Everything from image resolution to using features like CloudFlare will play a role in how well the site functions. Consider your options carefully as it may lead to increased income from customers who love a fast website.

Ready to start listing your products on PrestaShop? After all, there’s no point in starting an eCommerce store if it’s void of goods, right? PrestaShop makes this process a breeze, especially given the number of ways you can customize the store. This goes beyond installing new themes.

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to add products to PrestaShop. Once you learn this, you can start taking advantage of marketing tools to promote your store and make some money.

Setting Up the Category

Before you start selling, you need to make sure you have a valid payment gateway. There’s no sense in posting items for sale if you have no way to process the payment.

When listing an item to sell, the first thing you’ll need is a category for specific goods. This makes finding certain products easier for visitors and helps tremendously when it comes to tracking the progress of your online business.

From the PrestaShop dashboard, go to the Catalog area and click, “Categories.”

Categories

Click the tool to “Add new category” on the right of the screen.

Add New Category

Fill out the information and click the “Save” button on the bottom right. For instance, I am going to create a category for “Solar Toys.” You can also add thumbnails, cover images, meta data and more to fine-tune the category itself.

Save

Adding a New Product

After creating the category for your specific item, it’s time to add it to the store.

Go to the Catalog area and click, “Products.”

Products

Click the button on the right to “Add new product.”

Add New Product

From this screen, you will need to fill out all of the pertinent information for your product. This includes things like the name, descriptions, prices, SEO settings and more.

The more detailed you can be with your products, the better your store will perform. Don’t skip any details as they may be vital for consumers.

One area that may be a bit confusing is that of choosing the category. It’s not plainly shown as other areas of PrestaShop. Let me quickly show you how to change the category.

To change the category, go to the Associations tab and click, “Expand All.”

Expand All

Click the check box of your category.

Category Box

Choose the default category of your item, if you wish. This is user preference and only affects where the item is listed by default.

Default Category

Click the “Save and stay” button to continue editing.

Save And Stay

Enable and Disable Products

By default, PrestaShop enables all products you add. This means they are live as soon as you hit the save button. However, this might not be ideal in every situation. After all, it could take a bit of time to add all of the items important information.

To prevent your item from showing up while you work, go to the Information page and click, “No” for Enabled.

Not Enabled

Just don’t forget to enable the product once your ready for it to go live. Otherwise, your website will not show it to buyers.

Be Detailed

It may seem a bit overwhelming at first. PrestaShop has a lot of functions when it comes to listing products. However, these details will be instrumental in making sales and creating a successful online store.

Online stores are one of the more popular way to making money from a website. One of the most important aspects to any eCommerce site is that of payments. After all, you need to get paid for your items, right? PrestaShop has quite a few options available, but you need to choose the one that best fits your business practice.

Today, I’m going to show you how to add payment methods in PrestaShop. Once you have your gateways set up, you can start making sales. For instance, you need a payment method available on something like a landing page if you want to get paid.

Adding Payment Methods to PrestaShop

From the PrestaShop dashboard, go to Modules and Services and click, “Payment.”

Payment Modules

PrestaShop will have two default methods already installed: Bank wire and Payment by check. However, few eCommerce platforms support these types of payments nowadays. Scroll down through the Recommended gateways.

Gateways

PrestaShop supports a lot of different systems. Stripe, Skrill, CloudSwipe and Amazon Pay are just some of the methods you can use. Find one you like and click the “Install” button on the far right. Keep in mind you’ll need an account at any one of these services before you can use them.

Install Gateway

What if you want to use a gateway that is not on this screen? Scroll down and click, “View all payments solutions.”

View Solutions

This will bring up the “List of modules” screen. From here, you can install a variety of components to accentuate your site. Go through the list and see if your payment gateway is listed.

List Of Modules

CloudSwipe is perhaps one of the more common modules. It comes with more than 150 gateways for free such as PayPal, Authorize.net and others.

Cloud Swipe

Once you start loading up items to sell, you can start taking advantage of social media marketing tools to generate income. But, you still need a valid method for people to pay you.

Choose a Gateway Right for You

Everyone has a favorite payment gateway, and PrestaShop supports most of them. Whether it’s a free add-on or a premium module, you need a way for people to pay. Choose one that fits your organization and start filling the bank account today.

After you easily install PrestaShop, it’s time to change the look of your site. While there’s really nothing wrong with using the default layout, you add more of a custom appearance if you use a different theme. After all, you want to stand out amongst the online competition.

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install themes in PrestaShop. You won’t have to worry about FTP applications like FileZilla as the system will be able to add these on its own.

Installing a Theme

From the PrestaShop dashboard, go to the Preferences area and click, “Themes.”

PrestaShop Themes

Click the “Add new theme” function from the top tool bar.

Add New Theme

You have four different methods for creating a new theme. You can:

  • Import from your computer
  • Import from the web if you have the theme’s URL
  • Import from FTP, or File Transfer Protocol
  • Create your own, which requires a bit of advanced skills for web development

In this tutorial, I am simply going to use one I have saved on my computer. PrestaShop has many nice layouts to choose from for a fee, but you can probably find some decent free themes if you run a Google search for “Free PrestaShop Themes.” Just be careful about the source and make sure you’re downloading legitimate files.

Click the “Add File” button to search your computer. The theme needs to be in ZIP format, and this process will not work if it’s not.

Add File

Once you’ve added the theme file from your computer, click the “Save” button on the bottom right.

Save Theme

After you successfully upload the file, you’ll be taken back to the Theme screen. Scroll down to the “Select a theme for the “store name” shop.”

Scroll Down To Theme

As you can see, I have a new theme listed called, “Minimal.”

Hover over the new addition and click, “Use this theme.”

Use This Theme

Some themes will come with their own modules in order for it to work correctly. In the “Modules to Install” screen, you can choose which ones you want and disable the rest. You may also simply keep the modules as they are. Once you’re ready, click the “Save” button on the bottom right.

Save Modules

PrestaShop will then install the necessary components for your specific theme. In my install, I received a warning that I will have to resize images to fit the new layout. This is because themes often have different image dimensions. But since this is a new install, I don’t have to worry about it.

Click the “Finish” button on the bottom of the screen.

Finish Install

Your new theme is ready for customization, such as adding logos and favicons.

Starting an online store is one of the most popular ways to make money online. With the right marketing platform and an array of quality items, you can easily build a successful site.

Finding the Right Theme

Finding a theme to fit your needs is perhaps one of the most difficult parts of setting up PrestaShop. You need to make sure the theme is compatible with your version of the app and that it fits your online store’s niche. Just keep in mind that many themes come with a variety of custom options available.

PrestaShop is a great platform for those looking to sell products online. This eCommerce software is free to use and comes with a wide scope of tools for search engine optimization and customization. Luckily, it’s also incredibly easy to install if you use installers like Softaculous.

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to install PrestaShop on your domain. It will help you start an online store by giving you everything you’ll need from the get-go.

Installing PrestaShop

For this installation, I’m going to use the Softaculous installer. This feature comes built into the cPanel system with most Prestashop hosting platforms.

From cPanel, scroll down and click the “Softaculous Apps Installer.” It will be located under the Software section.

Softaculous

Search for PrestaShop and click the link on the left. You may also find it in the main Softaculous page along the top as a featured application.

Search PrestaShop

Click the “Install Now” button under the description.

Install PrestaShop

You’ll need to enter your website’s configuration details in the setup screen. These sections include:

Software Setup
Choose the version of PrestaShop you want to install and select your domain. Keep in mind you need to change the protocol if you’re using an SSL with your website. This means it will need to be set to either “https://” or “https://www.

Site Settings
Add the name of your store and the admin folder. Create a name that is relevant to your site or business. Create a unique admin folder location to make it more difficult for hackers and bots to access. Technically, this can be anything you want as long as you can remember it when trying to log in yourself.

Admin Account
Enter your email address and password. This will be your login credentials, so you want the password to be something hard to crack. You may also want to set up your first and last name so you can distinguish your account from another.

When you’re done inputting your site’s information, click the “Install” button on the bottom.

Install

After a few moments, Softaculous will finish installing the application on your domain.

Click the “Administrative URL” to access your dashboard.

PrestaShop Admin

Input the email, password and click the “Log In” button.

Your website is now ready for you to customize and add your products.

Excel in eCommerce

PrestaShop is perhaps one of the easiest platforms to use. It comes with everything you’ll need to excel at eCommerce. Once you get the hang of the best marketing tools, you can easily build an online powerhouse of sales. Explore the app and make use of the tools you’re provided with. Your level of effort will dictate success.
